Hope you had a good time at Oktoberfest 2023! Remember to save the date for 2024 - September 20 thru 22 - the third weekend in September!
Rotary members believe that we have a shared responsibility to take action on our world’s most persistent issues. To do that, we provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. We connect passionate people with diverse perspectives to exchange ideas, forge lifelong friendships, and, above all, take action to change the world.
The Rotary Club of Palatine is a civic service organization that has been active in the Palatine community for over 60 years. We are organized under Rotary International, which began in 1905 right here in Chicago. Please feel free to join us, or contact us at info@palatinerotary.com.
Our latest endeavor: In 2024 we became the sponsor of Scouting America Pack and Troop 209! Troop 209 has been serving families in the Palatine area since 1964, the same year we were chartered! More information is available on their website at https://bsatroop209palatine.com, and on Facebook, Instagram , and YouTube. They also have a Cub Scout pack for younger kids (Kindergarten through 5th grade) and a Venturing Crew for young men and women ages 14 through 20. We are very proud to sponsor this wonderful group! Follow the Rugged Road!
Meetings
Meetings
We meet for fun and fellowship at 7:30 every Tuesday morning at Annie's Restaurant and Pancake House. It's located at 154 W Northwest Highway (847) 485-7744. Meetings end around 8:45. In that time we catch up on the week just passed, hear about upcoming events in the community, share a buffet style breakfast, and listen to a speaker or conduct club business. If you'd like to visit, please contact us by email info@palatinerotary.com or just stop by Annie's.
Meeting Schedule
The Rotary Club of Palatine has hosted Exchange students for most of our history. Each exchange student spends approximately 11 months in Palatine, attending High School and living with 2 or 3 host families. This is often a life-changing experience, both for the student and the families that host them. The Rotary Student Exchange is different from other student exchange programs in that:
The Club also supports local students interested in living in a foreign country as an outbound exchange student. It can be a very enriching experience for everybody involved. If you are interested in participating, please contact us.
Exchange students usually arrive in August or September and stay until July of the following year. This list of exchange students shows their year of arrival:
Our current project is bringing clean water and WASH stations (water, sanitation, and hygiene) to 16,000 to 18,000 children in 48 schools in Sacatepequez, Guatemala. The total budget is over $500,000, $425,000 of which is coming from the Rotary Foundation. The project is being driven by the Rotary Club of Barrington and Club Rotario Guatemala Sur. Twenty six other clubs are also participating. As a Global Grant, there are strict requirements for sustainability, to ensure that clean water will continue to flow for years and years after completion.
As a result of this project kids will stay healther and school attendance will rise, especially for girls. In addition to infrastructure, education and habit formation are fundamental parts of this project.
